How to register a domain .GOV.IT

Institutions such as schools or governmental authorities need domains .gov.it registrations and hosting plans to promote their activities online. The extension .gov.it is managed and registered exclusively by DigitPa whereas the hosting can be provided by any hosting provider.
To register a domain .gov.it you need to follow the procedure described in the dedicated online form. Once you've filled in the form, send all documents, in 30 days, to dominio.gov@pcert.agid.gov.it

AgID requires that the technical representative and the administrative representative's e-mail addresses, registered during the registration process of a domain .gov.it, must correspond to the institutional e-mail registered in IPA: if any change on the e-mail address is required it will be applied to all the already registered .gov.it  domains. To complete the registration of a domain .gov.it you need to provide the registrant's IPA code.

The operations you can make on a domain .gov.it are:
  • Domain Data change - DNS or Mandate change;
  • Domain References change - Administrative or Technical References change, IPA Code;
  • Domain cancellation;

As the hosting service is working, the registrant will receive a confirmation e-mail with all details and setting to communicate to DigitPa to point the domain correctly. You have to choose your hosting plan before the request of the domain registration because you must communicate to DigitPa the hosting's Nameserver to point the domain correctly while the the request is in progress.
