How to install an SSL Certificate in cPanel

To protect your users' personal data from hacking is essential to have a SSL Certificate installed in your website.

You can install a SSL Certificate even without a dedicated IP in a few steps. First, make sure that your hosting plan allows you to install a certificate and then purchase your order.

Then, you need to set set your hosting for the installation, creating a Private key first and then a CSR (Certificate Signing Request), a portion of text encrypted using a 2048bit key, which enlists all the required domain data, such as Country, company name, email address and so on.

To create your private key you have to:

Log-in to your cPanel control panel;
In the "Security" section, click on "SSL/TLS";
Select "Generate, view, upload or delete your private keys", underneath "Private key";
Click on "Generate" to complete the operation.

To create your CSR you have to:

Log-in to your cPanel control panel;
In the "Security" section click on "SSL/TLS";
Click on "Generate, view or delete certificate signing requests" underneath "Certificate signing requests";
Fill in all the required fields and then click on "Generate".

The CSR will be immediately provided to the Certificate authority (such as for example GeoTrust, VeriSign, Symantec, Comodo, etc.). As you receive the authorization you will be able to install it in your hosting.

To install your Certificate using your cPanel control panel you have to:

Log-in to your cPanel control panel;
In the "Security" section click on "SSL/TLS";
Click on "Manage SSL sites" underneath "Install and Manage SSL for your sites";
In the "CRT" section type the certificate to install and in the "Private key" section type the required information;
Click on "Install Certificate" to complete the operation.
