Virtualization and Paravirtualization

In IT industry, we often talk about virtualization and para virtualization when we refer to the creation and management of virtual machines. Here, we will try to describe the main differences between these two realities and, above all, the advantages and disadvantages in choosing one or another.

When we talk about virtualization we refer to the upload of a VPS on a host system's hardware processed by a hypervisor. With the full virtualization the hypervisor recreates a whole hardware environment for each virtual machine. So, any VPS server is provided with its own hardware resources (created by the hypervisor) and can execute applications. There's no risk to invade the space of other VPS located on the same hardware.

In the full virtualization, a virtual hardware environment is provided for any VPS, otherwise in the paravirtualization the hypervisor provides an interface (API) which allows the VPS to access the host system's physical hardware environment.

Para virtualization is definitely more performing than the full virtualization, providing access to a wider range of resources but can be less reliable in terms of stability and quality of service.
In fact, if a malfunctioning may occur on one of the VPS built on the paravirtualization system or if one of them may use extra resources, the integrity of all VPS will be in danger.
This situation cannot occur in a full virtualization environment, where each VPS has a specific quantity of resources and cannot damage the integrity of any other VPS in the shared environment.

All Keliweb VPS are created on KVM system (Full virtualization). The resources are exclusively dedicated to each VPS with no sharing: they are extremely stable and secure (they are native VPS, not depending on the base system), easy to update and implement, increasing the amount of RAM and CPU whenever you need.
