How can I protect my Privacy on Whois?

Domains registrars (such as ICAAN, Nic Italiano, etc.) decided to collect all registered domains heading data in a database, named Whois, which is accessible to everybody on the net.

In Whois you can find the domain header's personal data such as name, surname, address, telephone number and e-mail address. To protect your identity and obscure your personal data from third parties, you can activate the privacy feature on Whois for all generic extensions managed by ICAAN.

According to the latest updates provided by Nic Italiano, all Italian companies cannot use the privacy feature on Whois any longer for domains .it. Otherwise, all individuals who register a domain .it can still use the privacy feature to protect their personal data.
