Domain transfer failure - Causes and solutions Domain transfer failure - Causes and solutions

There are several causes that can stop a domain transfer from a provider to another. Here is a short list of the potential "errors" you can meet during a domain tranfer.

1) Canceled - domain contacts did not respond to verification e-mail
The domain owner hasn't validated the transfer process yet: he /she didn't click on the validation link in the e-mail sent to his/her own e-mail address. The missing validation can also be the result of conditions such as active privacy, blocking the validation e-mail, or the impossibility for the header to access that specific e-mail, that cannot be valid anymore or wrong. In this case the owner needs to contact the old provider to replace it with a new one and then communicate it to the new provider that will send the validation e-mail again to the new address.

2) Canceled - cannot obtain domain contacts from Whois
The system wasn't able to recover all the informations from Whois. The user will have to contact the old provider to update the heading data and then communicate them to the new provider that will start the transfer again.

3) Canceled - Invalid EPP/authorization key - Please contact current registrar to obtain correct key
The Authorization code (Authcode / EPP code / AuthCode), is not correct. The user will have to contact the old provider to get a new one.

4) Canceled - Domain is locked at current registrar, or is not yet 60 days old
The domain can be locked and impossible to transfer. The user will have to contact the old provider to unlock the domain. The error can also point out that the domain has just been registered with another provider and cannot be transferable for the following 60 days.

5) Canceled - Domain is locked at current registrar
The domain is locked and impossibile to transfer. The user will have to contact the old provider and unlock the domain.
