What is an electronic invoice?

An electronic invoice is a digital document containing the same informations of a traditional invoice but without the use of paper and printing. All data reported in an electronic invoice cannot be changed and must include date and hour of release. In case of electronic invoice for a Public Administration the document must include the header's digital signature to guarantee the authenticity of the document.

Any time you send an electronic invoice in XML (eXtensible Markup Language) format, the Sistema di Interscambio makes several checks on it and, as long as the invoice passes them all, releases the invoice to the receiver's e-mail address (it may be PEC or Codice Destinatario) reported on the invoice itself.
